From Ubud we make our way to the ferry harbour at Padangbai. After a ferry ride of approximately 4.5 hours, we will arrive in the port of Lembar. From Lembar it is a 2.5 hour drive to the village of Tetebatu on the slope of the Rinjani volcano. In the afternoon we will explore this beautiful and local area of ricefields, tabacco fields and the small villages.

Day 3 Sapit (B)
In the early morning you may wish to start your day with a guided walk through the rice fields into the Rinjani National Park. The walk will take us on local pathways, through small villages, through a forest where you may be lucky enough to spot a troupe of black monkeys and onwards to a waterfall. From the waterfall the bus collects us as we continue the drive to Sapit. Sitting at approximately 800 metres above sea level, Sapit enjoys stunning views and a comfortable cooler climate. We explore the local village including a visit the old mosque of Lombok still used by the followers of the Wetu Telu religion. This afternoon will be filled with fun and laughter as the local village children join us at our homestay for an English lesson.

Day 4-6 Gili Islands (3B)
Today we drive approximately 4 hours to a harbour from where small outrigger boats will transport us to the Gili islands after around 30 minutes at sea.
With a tiny population, no cars, an industry consisting of tourism, coconut plantations and fishing, and surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches, pristine waters and coral reefs, the Gili Islands are the ideal location to relax, enjoy the sun, sand and sea and let go of all your cares and worries. If you feel particularly energetic your CEO can organise an optional snorkeling trip.
Please note there is limited fresh water available on the Gilis and electricity is supplied by generator so showers use salt water and rooms are typically fan only (no air-con).

Eating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. Included breakfasts will usually be asian style consisting of noodles or congee (rice porridge) or bread and eggs. Vegetarians will be able to find a range of different foods, although in some areas the choice may be limited. While trekking in remote regions food is included, plentiful and made of fresh local ingredients. For all trips please refer to the meals included and budget information for included meals and meal budgets.
Indonesian cooking contains fermented shrimp paste (terasi) as a basic ingredient. Although there are many vegetarian options available, please be specific when ordering food, as often a little chicken is included with most dishes.

We will be travelling through areas where cold water showers are the accepted norm. Hot water facilities are often unreliable even when they are available. In keeping with our authentic tours, many of our hotels will not have hot water showers.
